Woke up and started getting ready to leave. We packed our ton of stuff (minus the cooler since that was supposed to stay in Brisbane) and we got out to find our way to the airport. We filled up the car and made our way into the one way Brisbane fun. It ended up being less complicated than we thought so we arrived at the airport super early. The final count puts us at 4325 km (2,703 miles) in 16 days.
We booked our flight with Tiger Airways, a low cost airline. As most low cost airlines, their flights are cheap but you pay for the air you breathe: we had purchased the max amount of luggage weight because we knew we had our stuff plus the wine David bought so our allowance was 60 kg between the two of us. We go to the checking and it was too early but the girl said we could weigh our luggage before they could check in for our flight: 59.9 kgs between us. We couldn’t believe it: the check in attendant asked how the heck we could get that close and we all started giggling because it was all by chance…we had no scale anywhere.
We got on our plane and arrived in Sydney a little passed 4 pm. We were thinking of taking the train into town and then connecting with the bus, but we found out there was a bus that would take us from the airport to Bondi Junction; from there we would catch another one for a few stops to get to the apartment. The first bus ride was pretty good but the second one was a bit more challenging: the bus was pretty full and we had all of our luggage…and the driver was very unhelpful but we made it. We arrived at the apartment complex, found our key (after looking around for 15 minutes) and we walked in. The place is very cute and it even has a couch!
We went out to look around the neighborhood and to find some groceries, then we went back to have some dinner and sit in front of the TV to eat it: this feels like home. Tomorrow we’ll go around the city for the first day of sightseeing.
